Introduction : 2nd Battalion threw back all German units in Belgium during October and early November and is now entering the Huertgen Forest where American Forces have been trying to breach the German defences for more than two months.
Goal : 2BTN is to clear the Kall Trail and take up the positions at the battled Vossenack which is infested by roadblocks, mines, booby traps, snipers and Germans.

The Kall Trail east of Vossenack
Mission 1 : Position clearing. 24 November 1944
Look for signs left by 28 ID, conveniently according to B28.45. The back should read its strenght...
Result : 2BTN cleared the Kall Trail but did not manage to sweep Vossenack.  Overall a Ranger defeat.
Goal : With snow around us we will have to take the town of Bergstein and clear the foothill of Hill 400 in order to prepare the assault on the massive bunker on the top of the hill.
Mission 2 : Take the foothill.  5 December 1944
TF SHEA Blog
Result : We took the town and the eastern castle but TF SHEA got hit by an armor counterattack and Lt Chas didn't show up once again and it dismissed.  Marginal victory overall.
Mission 3 : Clear the Hill.  8 December 1944
Goal : We still need to take the Bunker and the western castle and clear the hilltops from Germans.
Result : TF HOL managed to get into the bunker but was unable to dislodge the last defenders.  TF WILL and SHEA made marginal gains and only TF RUST managed to clear the right flank of the hill.
Mission 4 : Enemy Patrol Control.  2 January 1945
Goal : 2BTN is withdrawn for R&R.  Some green replacements are showing up and need extra training.  The German Ardennes Offensive is slowing down but the flank units are still probing and we need to contain their patrols.
Result : Most German patrols were thrown back.  The Ardennes Offensive has failed and the Germans are pushed back into Germany.
